Getting Back To Your Routine

I hope you had an amazing Holiday season filled with laughter, love, and joy. I know it can be challenging to get back into your routine, but fear not, I have a few tips to guide you through the process.

  1. Set Realistic Goals: Set achievable and realistic fitness goals for the new year. Whether improving your endurance, mastering a new exercise, or simply staying consistent with your workouts, having clear objectives will keep you motivated.
  2. Start Slow and Steady: Don’t feel pressured to go all out on your first day back. You can start with a workout that’s challenging yet manageable. Gradually increase the intensity and frequency as your stamina builds. This approach will help prevent burnout and reduce the risk of injury. It will also assist in the sense of accomplishment. For example, saying you are going to work out 5 days a week and you only do 3 for the week, you may start to feel defeated. However, if you work out 4 days and only have 3 as the goal, BINGO!
  3. Find a Workout Buddy: Everything is more fun with a friend! Having a reliable partner can provide motivation, accountability, and a friendly face to share the sweat and smiles with. So grab one of your friends to join you on your workout journey.
  4. Mix it up: Spice things up by introducing variety into your workout routine. If the weather permits, try some outdoor activities, a new fitness class, or just some different exercises. Keeping things new and fresh will help prevent boredom but also may target some new muscle groups. Joining a platform like Class Pass will allow you to try many different types of workouts.
  5. Prioritize Self-Care: Remember, your health and well-being are the top priority. Make sure you incorporate rest days into your routine to allow your body to recover. Consider activities like yoga or meditation to enhance your overall mental and physical well-being.
  6. Celebrate Small Wins: Acknowledge and celebrate your achievements along the way, no matter how small. Whether its completing an extra set, increasing your weights, or simply showing up consistently, every step forward is a victory worth applauding.
  7. Create a Vibrant Workout Playlist: If you have taken my class you know my love for music and how I like to incorporate it into class. Music has the power to elevate your workout experience. Craft a playlist filled with energizing tunes that get you moving. A banging soundtrack can turn any workout into a dance party.
  8. Stay Hydrated and Nourished: Hydration and nutrition play crucial roles in supporting your fitness journey. Drink plenty of water, fuel your body with nutritious foods, and consider consulting a nutritionist for personalized guidance.

Getting back into your workout routine is all about embracing the journey with a positive mental attitude and determination. Let’s make this year our healthiest and happiest yet. You got this!!!

See you on the Mat!
